Cardiocentres of the Czech Republic
The Cardiac Centre is an inpatient medical facility specialising in cardiovascular care, i.e. care for diseases of the heart and blood vessels. Cardiac centres are separate for adults and children. There are two levels of cardiac centres - a simple cardiac centre and a complex cardiac centre. Complex cardiac centres have the additional presence of a cardiac surgery unit compared to simple centres. Some complex cardiac centres may also have a heart transplant programme. Below is a list of all currently accredited cardiac centers.

All cardiac centres have the possibility of complex diagnostics of cardiovascular diseases, i.e. in addition to classical non-invasive examinations such as ECG, echocardiography, CT and MRI, they also offer invasive catheterization examinations of coronary vessels with the possibility of follow-up coronary intervention and invasive catheterization examinations of rhythm disorders with possible catheterization ablation. They also provide a full range of pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantations. In addition, complex cardiac centres perform cardiac surgery procedures and with this comes the ability to perform more complex and risky catheterisation procedures such as catheterisation aortic valve replacement, catheterisation left atrial appendage closure or catheterisation mitral or tricuspid valve clip implantation. The examinations and procedures performed are also listed according to the different types of cardiac centres:
-
Non-invasive examination
ECG
Holter ECG monitoring 24 hours - 7 days
Episodic ECG recorders
Outpatient blood pressure monitoring
Echocardiographic transthoracic examinations
Echocardiographic meal examination
Ergometry
Inclined plane test
Invasive procedures
Selective coronary angiography
Percutaneous coronary intervention
Electrophysiological examination
Catheter ablation
Permanent pacemaker implantation
Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantation
Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation ECMO
-
in addition to the cardiac center:
Catheterisation aortic valve replacement (TAVI)
Mitral valve catheterisation plasty (Mitraclip)
Catheterisation tricuspid valve plasty (Triclip)
Left atrial appendage catheterization occlusion (LAAO)
Catheter ablation of ventricular arrhythmias
Extraction of the stimulation system
Full spectrum of cardiac surgery procedures
Left ventricular mechanical assist device (LVAD)
-
Plus, compared to a comprehensive cardiac center:
Heart transplantation
Mechanical heart replacements
